Soulsweeper
There are issues with the Leaderboard due to the service I am using (SilentWolf). The game still should be playable and you can submit your score!
Welcome, brave (or foolish) soul!
- If you like Minesweeper then this game is a perfect fit -
This game was prepared (solo) for the GoedWare Game Jam Halloween Part 2 You are a pumpkin-headed occultist, eager to free forgotten souls in a lost dungeon. Your light slowly fades with time, and you must recharge it by revealing tiles. But be careful: One wrong move, and uninvited guests will crash your ritual. If your light goes out or you run out of lives, your journey ends.
What you need to do?
Get rid of ALL souls and uninvited guests!
Your light fades over time. Reveal tiles to restore some of its brightness! A tile can show a number that tell you how many haunted tiles touch it (including diagonals). Avoid stepping on haunted or marked tiles. The magic circle will activate after correctly flagging and revealing 6 haunted tiles. Lure uninvited guests in the active circle and free up to 6 of them.
WASD - Move
LMB - Reveal nearby tiles
RMB - Flag tiles
E - Reveal flagged tiles (= free souls)
E within magic circle - Free ghosts (if the circle is active)
Long Story
Revealing tiles is similar to Minesweeper, but you need to get near the tiles to use LMB to reveal or RMB to flag a tile with a magic circle.
Tiles are either peaceful or haunted and can show a number that tell you how many haunted tiles touch it (including diagonals).
You can step on the tiles to reveal them but be aware: Step on a haunted tile, and congrats: You’ve just made a new friend! It’ll start following you around and can hurt you!
Always be aware of tiles with magic circles. Don’t expect them to be safe! If you walk over a flagged tile, whether it was haunted or not, another uninvited guest will appear, and the tile becomes a trap...
You are able to get rid of the ghosts though, using the big magic circle. This is your disposal unit for any ghost on the field. But first you need to activate it.
Reveal all the flagged tiles by doing some wolololo (press E).
You free the souls of haunted tiles with every correctly marked tile, but make a mistake and uninvited guests will appear. Traps will spring from the tiles you marked wrong. and ghosts will haunt you. Be aware that you will lose brightness for each wrongly freed soul...
Reveal six correctly marked tiles, and poof! The magic circle is fully charged.
Now you can lure the ghosts inside the circle and wololo again within the circle to banish up to six ghosts that are following you. The corresponding traps will vanish, you gain some more light and eventually freed the souls. After that the circle resets and needs to be recharged by freeing more haunted tiles.
If you awaken too many souls, you’ll have a parade of misery on your tail and no way to free the souls if you are not able to recharge the circle! Why does that matter?
You need to free all the souls to win!

Strategy Tips from the Dead
Freeing ghosts with the magic circle should be a last resort, not your main hobby. The circle isn’t infinite, and it’ll be time consuming to lure them!
You might be forced to take a gamble now and then. That’s fine.
Just be ready to clean up your ectoplasmic mess later.
Mark as many suspicious tiles and reveal them!
You gain brightness and if you are lucky, neighboring tiles will be revealed and you can go on.
Keep track of your light and your lives!
To my husband and son!
