Days after submission

After just one day, my game has already received 7 comments and 8 ratings, each providing valuable input and feedback on what I’ve created. One thing became immediately clear: The character’s movement needs some fine-tuning to make it feel smoother and more intuitive. Additionally, a bug was pointed out where the "Failed" menu remains visible in the background of the "Completion" menu when the player runs out of actions or lives. This kind of feedback is incredibly helpful in refining the game and making necessary adjustments.

In addition to receiving feedback, I also dove into the jam’s submissions and played a ton of games myself. In just one day, I managed to play, rate, and comment on 21 games - and it was an absolute blast! (Kinda lucky to be on maternity leave - gives me the perfect opportunity to dive into all these games!). The sheer variety of developers and creative ideas is amazing. Now, my new goal is to eventually play all the submitted games within the rating period. Challenge accepted!

By now seventeen brave souls have rated my game, and fourteen left comments —each piece of feedback making me prouder of what I’ve created and thinking what I could have done better.

In the meantime, I’ve played and rated a total of 50 games myself. Some felt like they accidentally wandered into the wrong jam, while others were downright fascinating and super inspiring. So inspiring, in fact, that I’ve decided to dive headfirst into not one, but TWO more game jams starting this Friday!

I just love this game jam atmosphere—chaotic, creative, and absolutely addictive!

The day isn’t over yet, but I’ve officially played every single game submitted to this jam! Out of all the entries, I’d say around 85% were really well-made and fit the theme perfectly, while others… well, let’s just say they took a more abstract approach.

This is the first time I’ve actually managed to play every game in a jam (well, it is my 2nd jam so far, so good rate?), but with only 71 entries (at the start), it was doable. I’ve gained so many new insights and ideas, and for future jams, I’ll definitely keep playing as many games as I can. It’s been a great way to see how a theme can be interpreted in wildly different ways and to learn what game mechanics, genres, and UI choices feel great or, in some cases, are not quite my thing.
